Shannon Turner Named ISBHF Women’s Coach of the Year
Bratislava, Slovakia – Congratulations to Shannon Turner named 2025 Female Coach of the Year by the International Street and Ball Hockey Federation!
Coach Shannon’s impact went far beyond running lines and drawing up plays on a clipboard. Her approach to ball hockey was intentional and steady, built on smart matchups, defensive discipline, and trusting the team to play the game the right way when it mattered most. She understood when to slow things down, when to push the pace, and how to put her players in positions to succeed. That confidence in the system allowed the women to play composed, connected hockey in the biggest moments.
What truly set Coach Shannon apart, though, was the way she led people. She made it a priority to spend time with the team, to listen, to connect, and to genuinely know the women she was coaching. That investment created trust, and that trust showed on the bench. The energy was positive, focused, and unified, even under pressure. Players believed in each other because they believed in themselves and in their leadership.
The culture surrounding this team was a major reason for its success, and that culture started at the top. The connection between the bench, the floor, and the coaching staff was unmistakable. Every voice mattered, every role was valued, and the atmosphere stayed locked in and supportive shift after shift. That environment does not happen by accident. The entire coaching staff deserves recognition as well. Across the board, the staff was outstanding. Their chemistry, communication, and shared commitment to the team created consistency and confidence throughout the tournament. Together, they set the tone, modeled professionalism, and supported the women in every moment.
This recognition reflects not only a championship result, but a standard of leadership, preparation, and care that made the team stronger on and off the floor. Well deserved, Coach Shannon. Go USA!
