NBHL Kicks Off 5th Season with Brand New Divisions and Tiers

PC: NBHL Pittsburgh

The National Ball Hockey League (NBHL) officially dropped the ball on its 5th season this past weekend, launching another exciting year of competition in three of its most established regions: New Jersey, Pittsburgh, and Washington D.C. Teams across Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 took to the courts, alongside the debut of the brand new Legends Tier — a 45+ division designed to give longtime players a chance to continue competing at a high level.

The action-packed opening weekend saw returning teams aiming to build on last year’s success and new clubs eager to make their mark. The addition of the Legends Tier is a milestone for the league, expanding opportunities for players of all ages to stay involved in the game.

The season actually got an early start the weekend prior, with the British Columbia Division kicking things off as the first-ever Canadian region to join the NBHL. This marks a major step forward in the league’s growth, signaling a move toward a more unified North American presence in ball hockey.

With divisions now spanning coast-to-coast — and across the border — the 2025 NBHL season is shaping up to be the league’s biggest and most competitive yet.
